Gourmet Whole Bean Coffee from Shade-Grown Coffee Farms

Nicaraguan Medium Roasted Coffee (Single Origin)
Nicaragua is the largest country in Central America. Its growing region makes for perfect coffee cultivation, with its volcanic soil, high elevation, and shade-grown harvesting. Our Nicaragua Medium Roast is a single origin, shade-grown roasted coffee offering Chocolate, Nutty, and Buttery taste notes. You could enjoy this coffee without adding sweeteners.
Nicaraguan shade-grown coffee is renowned for its exceptional quality, largely due to the unique microclimates and traditional farming practices found in the country's coffee-producing regions, such as Matagalpa and Jinotega. Shade-grown cultivation involves planting coffee trees under the canopy of larger native trees. This practice not only provides a natural habitat for diverse wildlife, including migratory birds, but also contributes to the coffee's nuanced flavor profile.
The shade-growing method results in a slower cherry maturation process, allowing the coffee beans to develop a more complex and balanced flavor. Our light to medium roasted beans offers a bright acidity, notes of chocolate, caramel and nuts, with hints of floral and fruity undertones.
SWOON Whole Bean Light Roasted Blend
Experience a captivating journey with our meticulously crafted blend, marrying the rich, chocolatey depths of Nicaragua with the bright, floral vibrancy of Ethiopia. This union creates a coffee that is both comforting and exhilarating, a testament to the diverse terroir of these exceptional coffee-growing regions.
Upon the first sip, you'll discover a symphony of flavors. The Nicaraguan beans provide a smooth, medium body with prominent notes of caramel and cocoa, offering a grounding sweetness. As the coffee unfolds, the Ethiopian contribution emerges, introducing delicate hints of jasmine and citrus, adding a lively, aromatic complexity. The finish is clean and satisfying, leaving a lingering sweetness that invites another cup.
This blend is perfect for those who appreciate a nuanced coffee. It's versatile enough for your morning ritual, offering a bold yet balanced start to the day, or as a delightful afternoon pick-me-up. Enjoy it black to fully appreciate its intricate layers, or with a splash of milk to soften the brighter notes and enhance the creamy, chocolatey undertones.

Frequently Asked Questions:
Why do you sell only Whole Bean Coffee and not Ground Coffee?
Grinding coffee yourself right before you brew it is the most effective way to capture the full spectrum of flavor and aroma the bean has to offer. This results in a more vibrant, aromatic, and flavorful cup of coffee because you are extracting these compounds when they are at their freshest and most potent. Pre-ground coffee, having been exposed to air for an extended period, has already lost a significant portion of these precious aromatics.
Why don’t you sell flavored coffee?
Simply put, artificially and “natural” flavored coffee beans are not good for you, and certainly not good for the original flavor profile of the bean. While many coffee businesses like to offer everything from French Toast flavored coffee to Peanut Butter and Jelly, we stand firmly on offering origin coffees where their quality flavor profiles shine through. Plus, many flavored coffees use artificial flavoring oils, sweeteners, or other additives. The specific ingredients are not always clearly disclosed.
Why do you only sell a limited selection of coffee?
We’re passionate about coffee, and with that passion comes a great deal of respect for where coffee is sourced. We educate ourselves on specific growing regions, the cultivation process and the flavor profiles of the coffee bean. Owner Rob Watts currently invests time in earning certifications through the SCA (Specialty Coffee Association) to better understand the specialty coffee industry, and to better serve the coffee drinking community. While we intend to continue growing our small coffee business, we will only sell coffee that we truly and honestly love and will want to share with you. There are tons of drop shipping businesses that are fine with offering 50 coffees from around the world without ever knowing what any of them taste like. We’re here to offer you a quality coffee drinking experience.
